This is the first book Tolkien wrote about hobbits. It follows a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins of the Shire. One day he has a run in with a wizard named Gandalf who wants him to go on an adventure. Of course, being a peaceful hobbit, he refused. The next day 13 dwarves come to Bag End uninvited. Bilbo finds out the dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield, are going to recapture their homeland. In the end Bilbo agrees to go on the adventure and what an adventure it is. Trolls, elves, giant spiders, and goblins awaits these brave adventurers. A great book for those who love to read about magic, dragons, and adventure. Even if you don't like magic I encourage you to give this book a try. I know someone who does not like books with magic and they read it all the time.
